La Otra Orilla (Québec) / Série Cinquième Salle - Danse Danse
El12
A NEW PRODUCTION BY MYRIAM ALLARD AND HEDI (EL MORO) GRAJA
Complex rhythms, heart-rending chants, intense and solemn dance: flamenco literally casts a spell. This art form traces its origins to 16th-century Spain and constitutes a tradition that remains very much alive, constantly enriching itself. After immersing themselves in the soul and technique of flamenco at its very source in Andalusia, dancer Myriam Allard and singer Hedi (El Moro) Graja founded the up-and-coming Montréal flamenco company La Otra Orilla. With its irresistible fervour, this inspiring company takes the stage by storm and delivers, with El12, the essence of flamenco in a contemporary context. A warning to aficionados: this is a prodigious journey by body, heart and soul.
