Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal [bjm_danse] (Quebec)
Soirée Aszure Barton
Choreographer :Aszure Barton
November 27, 28, 29, 2008
Centre Pierre-Péladeau
Enthusiastically received wherever they perform, Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal [bjm_danse] is back. Incurably charming, deliberately nonchalant and technically irreproachable, the Quebec-based company directed by Louis Robitaille is offering a program devised entirely by its choreographer-in-residence, Aszure Barton. Without a doubt, the young New-York-based Canadian choreographer and protégée of Mikhail Baryshnikov has the wind in her sails: her works have been performed in New York and at major festivals throughout the United States. In 2006, Barton choreographed pieces for a Broadway production of L’Opéra de Quat’sous. For this Soirée Aszure Barton, (bjm_danse) will rekindle the “infectious energy” of Les Chambres des Jacques, in its Montreal premiere.
