The well-known piece by Georg Büchner, precursor to modern theatre, reveals a slice of life in society, including its power relations and alienation. Without wealth, education or power, Woyzeck is disembodied and exploited through a series of subtle and destructive strategies. The Sadari Movement Laboratory uses wooden chairs and a grandiose set design to evoke the movements and agony of a person completely dispossessed of his body. Over this theatrical setting is layered the musical talents and creative vision of composer Astor Piazzolla. Produced in association with AsiaNow Productions.
