WAYNE MCGREGOR/RANDOM DANCE - Entity - February 10, 11 and 12, 2011 from DANSE DANSE on Vimeo.
“Wayne McGregor is a name little known to American dancegoers. But across the Atlantic, Mr. McGregor, […] the resident choreographer at the venerable Royal Ballet, is doing some of the most exciting work in ballet on the planet.” (The New York Times)
He has created choreographies for the Ballet de l’Opéra de Paris and the Bolshoi, directed operas – notably at La Scala – and choreographed movement for the film
Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. Wayne McGregor has earned a slew of nominations and awards, and embarked on numerous collaborations with other artists and companies. Named Choreographer of the Year by
ballettanz in 2009, he embraces new technology and incorporates the cyber world into his work – digital figures and landscapes, simultaneous performance via the Internet, the integration of video, 3D architecture and virtual dancers. His company, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, will be making its Montreal début with
Entity, a much-acclaimed hybrid work for ten dancers that has been presented to sold-out audiences in more than a dozen countries. The music for this remarkable dance piece, with its incredible visual effects, is by the composers Jon Hopkins (Coldplay and Massive Attack) and Joby Talbot (The Divine Comedy). A revelation.
