Studio-théâtre of Place des Arts
All the delicacy and refinement of a bygone era will be recaptured
in the program presented by baritone Charles
Prévost and pianist Francis
Perron. In the 1960s, under the name of Charles Linton,
Charles Prévost was a member of the
legendary group Les Sinners. He went on to study
the vocal arts, developing an exceptional voice. A great technician
of the piano and versatile artist, Francis Perron
has long performed as a chamber musician and accompanist with some
of the country’s most prestigious ensembles. The two artists
will charm the lunch crowd with the music of Gounod, Hahn,
Fauré, Duparc, Ravel and Prévost.
Thursday, December 13 from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. at the
Studio-théâtre of Place des Arts
In the hands of a virtuoso like Vladimir Sidorov,
the bayan accordion is suited to all repertoires, from folk to
classical music. The bayan is a chromatic button accordion
developed in Russia in the early 20th century. Its internal
construction gives the instrument a different tone colour from
western accordions, with fuller bass sounds in particular. Its
range and purity of tone make it the instrument of choice for both
the classical
and contemporary repertoire. Vladimir Sidorov will
here demonstrate his talent and finesse with works by Chopin,
Vlasov, Gridin, Liadov, as well as traditional Russian music and
some of his own compositions.
Thursday, December 20 from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. at the
Hall des Pas perdus – Free Concert In
their third year at
LESMÉLODÎNES,
the female vocal ensemble Modulation, under the
musical direction of Lucie Roy, will celebrate
Christmas in festive style. Formed in 1991 with the aim of
promoting the rich repertoire of religious and secular a
cappella works, Modulation performs regularly
at the country’s major choral events, in addition to gracing
a number of Quebec film soundtracks. The ensemble will perform
A Ceremony Of Carols by Benjamin Britten, along with such
Christmas favourites as Jingle Bells, White
Christmas and Bonhomme Hiver.
