BAR
Bar Pellan
During the first few years of Place des Arts’ existence, all
the bars in the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier were located in the Bar
Pellan, located behind the Piano Nobile. It was named in honour of
the artist Alfred Pellan (1906-1988) whose stained-glass mural
takes up the entire back wall of the bar. Although, over the years,
theatre-goers have preferred the smaller portable bars located in
the various foyers, Bar Pellan is still equipped to accommodate 75
people. A kitchen adjacent to the bar is made available to caterers
during receptions.
Bar Galerie
Located on the 7th floor, the Bar Galerie is equipped to
accommodate 75 people on the mezzanine and balcony levels.
FOYER
Foyers on the even- and odd-numbered
parterres
Show audiences may relax before the show or during the intermission
in the foyers located on both the odd- and even-numbered sides of
the parterre level. The foyer on each side has a capacity of 450
people and can be used as an extension to the Piano Nobile for a
reception of 100 people. The area can also accommodate
approximately 200 people for conferences or discussions.
Piano nobile
The word “piano” in Italian means storey. In
architecture, the term “piano nobile” is used to
describe a central area to which higher secondary storeys are
connected. Place des Arts’ Piano nobile is a majestic area
that is ideal for private receptions, conferences and discussion
sessions. This “noble area” opens on to two grand
staircases that are dominated by Les Anges radieux, by
Québec artist Louis Archambault (1912-2003). Illuminated by
the high front bay windows, the Piano nobile offers a spectacular
view of the Esplanade and the work of Claude Bettinger (1942-1998).
It can hold approximately 500 people standing; it can seat 300
people for conferences or 150 banquets.
Beauchemin Foyer
Located on the odd-numbered side of the corbeille level
(dress circle), this foyer was named after artist Micheline
Beauchemin who bequeathed her tapestry entitled “La chute
d’Icare”. The foyer has a capacity of
approximately 200 people standing; it can seat 150 people for
conferences or banquets.
Lapalme Foyer
Located on the even-numbered side of the corbeille level
(dress circle), this foyer was named in honour of artist Robert
Lapalme (1908-1997) who bequeathed a tapestry filled with lighting
and shadow effects. The Lapalme Foyer can accommodate up to 200
people standing; it can seat 150 people for conferences or
banquets.
Salon vert
Located in a backstage rotunda in the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, the
Salon vert (Green Room) is the ideal location for meetings
with artists and for various special events. Capacity: 35.
