Place des Arts is managed by a body corporate as defined in the
Civil Code of Québec. Its nine members, including the Chair,
are appointed by the Québec government following
consultations with the Montréal Metropolitan Community as
well as large regional and national socio-economic and cultural
organizations.
INTERIM
PRESIDENT
Jean Laurin is President and Chief Executive Officer of
GVA Devencore - Montreal. He serves on the Executive Committee and
the Board of Directors of GVA Worldwide, one of the biggest
independent partnerships of real estate consulting firms. He is a
member of the World Presidents’ Organization. Strongly
involved in his community, he serves as President of the Board of
Trade of Metropolitan Montreal Foundation and is a member of the
Executive Committee of the Fondation de l’Université
du Québec à Montréal.
VICE-PRESIDENT
Michel Tourangeau is a partner in the Marchand
Melançon Forget law firm, for which he practises commercial,
corporate and real estate law. Highly involved in the business
community, he is President of the Chambre de commerce et
d’industrie de l’Est de l’Île de
Montréal, President of the Caisse populaire Desjardins de
Mercier-Rosemont, Vice-President of Desjardins Asset Management and
a member of the Corporation de développement
économique de l’Est. He is also Vice-President of the
Fondation de l’Hôpital Louis-H. Lafontaine.
MEMBERS
Frédérique Cardinal is Senior
Director, Corporate Partnerships, at TELUS. She previously served
as Director of Financial Development of Leucan. Before joining that
organization, she worked for 20 years on the communications,
marketing and community relations teams of the Club de hockey
Canadien. She played a key role in the establishment and
development of the Montreal Canadians Children’s
Foundation.
Sylvie Chagnon is closely involved in
corporate donations management at Lallemand inc. She is a member of
the Board of Directors and Chair of the Development Committee of
the McCord Museum and was associated with Les
Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal as a member of the
Board of Directors and President of Les Amis des Grands. She served
on the Board of the Montreal Breast Cancer Foundation and was
cofounder of the Serenity Program. She participated actively in
major fundraisers for these organizations.
Margie Gillis is a world renowned dancer
and choreographer. As Artistic and Executive Director of the Margie
Gillis Dance Foundation, she has created many choreographic works
and presented shows in Europe, the Middle East and America. She was
awarded the honorary title of Cultural Ambassador for Canada and
Quebec. For her outstanding achievements as a performer and
choreographer, she was decorated with the Order of Canada and
obtained many awards and fellowships.
Denis Piché is Vice-President and
Director and an investment advisor at RBC Dominion Securities. He
is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. He has served in
various capacities on many Boards of Directors, including those of
Hôpital Cité-de-la-Santé de Laval, the Heart
and Stroke Foundation (Des Moulins Region), and the
Fédération des Clubs des Initiés du
Québec. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the
Fondation du Collège Regina Assumpta and is highly involved
in various charitable and community organizations.
Rachel H. Renaud is Senior Director of the
Roasters Foundation. She devotes a substantial share of her
activities to raising awareness among individuals, business people,
foundations and governments about the importance of philanthropy
and its repercussions for the community. She is a member of the
Board of Directors of the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, the
Fondation Toujours ensemble and the Fondation de
l’Hôpital Sainte-Justine. She is also a member of the
Entrepreneurs’ Organization.
Louise Sicuro is President and Chief
Executive Officer of Culture pour tous and the guiding spirit of
Journées de la culture since the creation of that
organization. She is a member of the Executive Committee of Culture
Montréal and of the Montreal Regional Conference of Elected
Officers. She headed the Municipal Relations Service of the
Montreal Urban Community Arts Council and initiated and implemented
the cultural diffusion activities of Ville de
Saint-Léonard.
