Place des Arts is undergoing a
transformation…
Place des Arts is in the midst of a great transformation. Work
is underway on two major sites on the Place des Arts plaza: the
construction of a concert hall, L'Adresse
symphonique, and the remodelling of the Grand Foyer culturel in the Hall des Pas
perdus.
Concert Hall
Groupe Ovation, the consortium selected for the construction of the
concert hall, has begun work on the east side of the Esplanade, at
the corner of de Maisonneuve Boulevard and Saint-Urbain Street. A
fence has been erected in order to form a boundary around the site.
Section P1 of the Place des Arts parking lot is currently closed
due to this work in progress and will remain closed throughout the
entire construction of the concert hall.
Grand Foyer culturel
Remodelling work for the
Grand Foyer culturel culturel has also begun. During
construction, public traffic flow and access to performance halls
and stores will continue to remain unobstructed in the Hall des Pas
perdus. New pedestrian traffic lanes will be set up as
needed.
| Despite ongoing construction work in and around Place
des Arts, all performance halls, as well as the outdoor esplanade,
box office, shops, and corridors leading to the Metro and to
Complexe Desjardins are open. The work will in no
way affect performances taking place at Place des Arts.

Access to Place des Arts
The main entrance, located at 175 Sainte-Catherine Street, remains
open to pedestrians even though Sainte-Catherine Street is
obstructed by construction work. The street is closed to motor
traffic from Bleury Street to Saint-Dominique Street. The
underground corridor linking Place des Arts to Complexe Desjardins
to remains open to pedestrians. Place des Arts can also be reached
via the Place-des-Arts Metro corridor, one entrance of which is
located at the corner of Jeanne-Mance Street and de Maisonneuve
Boulevard.
Metro access: Place-des-Arts station,
Green line.
Using neighbouring streets
De Maisonneuve Boulevard, between Saint-Laurent Boulevard
and Jeanne-Mance Street, is open to traffic. Motorists travelling
from the east can now turn left onto Saint-Urbain Street in order
to reach the Place des Arts parking lot. Please note that de
Maisonneuve Boulevard has been re-configured and that the number of
lanes has been reduced in this area. Parking is now prohibited on
this section of the street.
Sainte-Catherine Street is closed to all vehicular traffic from
Bleury Street to Saint-Dominique Street. The work to update
infrastructures, which is part of Phase 3 of the Quartier des
spectacles project, will be spread over several months.
Ontario Street, which becomes President Kennedy Boulevard
beginning at Saint-Urbain Street, is closed to traffic between
Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Jeanne-Mance Street for the next few
months.
Saint-Urbain Street, between Sherbrooke Street and de
Maisonneuve Boulevard, is also closed for several months.
Jeanne-Mance Street is closed to vehicular traffic between
René-Lévesque Boulevard and Sainte-Catherine Street.
In order to help increase the flow of vehicles exiting the Complexe
Desjardins parking lot during the closure of Jeanne-Mance Street,
there will be two-way traffic on Jeanne-Mance Street between
René-Lévesque Boulevard and Sainte-Catherine Street.
The exit of the Place des Arts parking lot, on Jeanne-Mance Street,
is open as usual.

Place des Arts sector, please visit the Quartier
international de Montréal website.

des Arts parking lot must take another parallel street to reach de
Maisonneuve Boulevard and then turn left onto Saint-Urbain.
